1828 - Green Flake, later one of the three African-Americans to enter the Salt Lake Valley with the first company of Saints, is born on the Jordan Flake plantation in Anson County, North Carolina. There are no known birth records for Hark Lay and Oscar Crosby, the two other African-Americans in the party.
